Elvis' bible auction

On the 35th aniiversary of his death today, a bible that once belonged to Elvis Presley and which contains handwritten notes is to go on sale.

Reportedly, the bible was given to him as a present by his Aunt and Uncle at his first Christmas in his Graceland home in 1957.

The book, which is embossed in gold on a leather cover, contain many hand written notations from Elvis, one reading: "To judge a man by his weakest link or deed is like judging the power of the ocean by one wave."

The Bible is among more than 100 lots of rare Elvis memorabilia to go on sale at Stockport-based Omega Auctions on Saturday September 8.

The entire collection of Elvis memorabilia is being sold on behalf of an unknown British Elvis collector. The bible itself is expected to fetch approximately $30,000.

Recently many of Elvi's personal items have been up for auction including an old library card, locks of hair, and at one point, his crypt which later got taken off the market.
