Elvis' family surprises Graceland
Priscilla and Lisa Marie Presley, the former wife and daughter of Elvis Presley, surprised thousands of fans who gathered at Graceland for the King's 35th death anniversary by showing up together for the first time.
The two women have never appeared together at the annual gathering, but this year stood before thousands on an elevated stage on August 16, the eve of the anniversary of Presley's 1977 death.
"You should see this from our point of view. It's amazing," Priscilla said at the gathering. "The candles are lit. It's truly a sight to behold."
She added, "This is something that Elvis would never, ever have believed could have taken place here."
Fans gather yearly on the anniversary of Presley's death, laying flowers at his Graceland home, as well as holding candlelight vigils.
Authorities estimate that 75,000 fans were present this year.
Daughter Lisa Marie said, "I've always avoided this because I felt that it would be too emotional, but I really felt it was important to come down here tonight... I love you very, very, very much."
