The new Jimi Hendrix biopic will feature cover songs of songs by The Beatles, Elvis and Muddy Waters.
All Is by My Side, is the title of the new biopic telling the tale of the life of Jimi Hendrix - set to be played by Outkast's Andre 3000.
Interestingly, the film won't feature any songs written by Hendrix, it's main subject, but it will include a smattering of cover songs. Tracks from Elvis Presley, Muddy Waters and The Beatles which Hendrix covered during his lifetime with appear in the film.
The rason being that the film is set during the years 1966 - 1967, the years in which Hendrix had yet to rise to the level of fame he became known for, and the years in which he relied on covers of popular songs to raise his presence on the music scene,
The Hendrix Experience, a company run by Hendrix sister and with creative control over his original music has said that even though they hadn't been approached to use any of Hendrix's music, they were not-aware no original songs would be used in All Is by My Side. “They want to make a Jimi Hendrix movie without Jimi Hendrix music,” the company rep said. “It would be like making a movie about Lincoln without being able to use the Gettysburg Address.”
All Is by My Side is set in London, but the film is being shot in Dublin, Ireland and has a release date of 2013.
