Women over 30 rule the box
If you are female and over 30, you now have a legitimate claim to the remote control.
The Drama Executive of Network Ten told a conference recently that females over the age of 30 are the target audience for Australian drama.
Which is not to say younger females don’t enjoy drama or that males don’t enjoy drama - Channel 9’s Howzat is testament to this – but women over 30 are the go to for drama audiences in Australia.
Shows like Offspring, Packed to the Rafters and now Channel 10’s Puberty Blues are among the highest rating shows for their targeted demographic and it’s not hard to see why.
We love following the dramas of Nina in Offspring and the family turmoil in Packed to the Rafters. While the shows provide an escape from everyday lives, they are also relatable and enthralling.
Mums around the country rejoice – we now have reported proof that we own the remote!
