Jason Donovan

Jason Donovan is part of the smoothfm family

Jason was born into a show business family in Melbourne. He made his first TV appearances in I Can Jump Puddles, Skyways and Gold Pennies.

It is well know that he had his big break, together with co-star Kylie Minogue, in the role of Scott Robinson in Neighbours which turned him into an international star. After four years, he had won almost every major Australian award including a TV Week Logie Award for Most Popular Actor. The series went on to become one of the highest rating shows in the UK.

Jason experienced huge chart success as part of the PWL pop era. His debut album ‘Ten Good Reasons’ was the highest selling album of 1989 with sales of 1.5 million and sell-out shows in the UK, Europe and South-East Asia. The album featured the duet ‘Especially For You’ with Kylie Minogue and a No.1 hit with ‘Too Many Broken Hearts’. Jason is one of the most successful singers in British chart history with world sales of 13 million albums and four UK No.1s. Following the release of his second album ‘Between The Lines’, he became 1989’s biggest selling artist throughout the UK and Europe.

Jason’s TV, film and musical theatre work showed his versatility. He worked in Australia on film projects including his first role as Private Talbot in ‘Blood Oath’ starring Bryan Brown and Russell Crowe, followed by the mini-series ‘Shadows of the Heart’ and ‘Heroes’. In 1994 he scored his first lead role in the movie ‘Rough Diamonds’.

Music has always a constant in Jason’s career. He shone in the lead role of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s production of ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’ at London’s Palladium in 1991. In 1998, he landed the role of Frank ‘N’ Furter in a touring version of ‘The Rocky Horror Show’ where he met his partner Angela.

He continues to entertain the UK on his Heart radio show every Sunday afternoon and is delighted to be part of the smoothfm family.
